Here’s a bit about what I’ve got coming up:
Amid the Noise w/So Percussion
So Percussion is coming to Rochester next week, and some of the percussionists in the Eastman Percussion Studio will be performing a work with them called Amid the Noise. It’s a great idea to have a piece that travels well and involves students at various universities — it provides value far beyond a master class or recital, by actually engaging the students. Can’t wait!
Schwantner Percussion Concerto w/Eastman Wind Ensemble
What’s better than performing a concerto with one of the best wind ensembles in the world? Playing the timpani part while Michael Burritt does all the heavy lifting, haha! I’m excited to watch him throw down on this.
Speaking at Hilliard’s Innovative Learning Center
I’ll be returning home to Hilliard, Ohio, over my fall break to speak at my home district’s new Innovative Learning Center. I’m grateful for the invite by Phil Nagy, and will be speaking to three different classes. I’ve been keeping a note on my phone of all my ideas regarding what I might say, and will definitely get video of this!
P.S. — My little sister will be in the first class. Pressure’s on!
I’ll be performing twice at PASIC this year!
First, I’ll compete against Cory Fica and Samuel Chan in the solo competition on Thursday morning. It’s an honor to be regarded in the same category as these guys. They are ridiculous musicians, and I’m thankful to have gotten to the finals with them!
And two days later, I’ll be playing a 1pm concert with the Eastman Percussion Ensemble. New repertoire, world premieres, and tons of notes on this Saturday afternoon concert. Hope to see you there!
The winter/spring will also be full of exciting things, but I’ll post about those a bit later.
